3 steps to innovative growth: Design a new you to achieve peak performance | Entrepreneur
I quit my $8,000-a-week coaching job.
why? Well, the answer is both simple and complex. I wasn’t feeling it anymore.
Even worse, I felt guilty because I knew that many others would appreciate the opportunity given to me.Hey, just a year ago I was very grateful For the occasion.
But something changed inside me, and I knew I had to change on the outside as well. I’ll explain these changes and the process I utilized in a moment, but first I’d like to ask you a few questions.
Have you ever felt confused about your purpose or found that the work that once made you shine now feels like a chore?
Or have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions and don’t even know where you’re going?
If so, I would like to share the same solution that helped me when I faced a similar challenge. I can’t promise it will be easy, but it will definitely lead to greater clarity and fulfillment.
If you’ve been following my work for a while, you might be wondering, “Why is a business development person suddenly talking about personal development?”
That’s because all of the soul searching I went through led me to a powerful realization.
I no longer want to focus solely on helping entrepreneurs build their brands and businesses. I also want to help you overcome setbacks, seize opportunities, and perform at your highest level.
But that won’t happen until you have clarity on who you are and where you want to go.
Here is the process I implemented to clarify this.
Step 1: Create a vision for your personal and professional life.
A personal vision statement is a mission statement that describes what you want to accomplish in life, both personally and professionally.
You can use this statement as a guide when deciding which career to pursue, when making important life decisions, when planning how to achieve your goals, and when realizing your life’s dreams.
Before creating a vision statement, remember that it is about what you want to achieve and should not be influenced by society or colleagues.
“Only when you can look into your heart will your vision become clear. He who looks outward dreams, and he who looks inward awakens.” – Carl Jung
By definition, your vision is what you want to be, do, feel, think, own, relate to, and influence by some point in the future.
I will share my excerpts so you can understand them well.
My vision is for families to be able to explore the world around them, maintain their own pace of life, and have empathy for everyone they encounter. Through the content I develop and provide, I support myself by teaching others how to live their vision.
My day starts around 4:30am with meditation and exercise. Then, learn at least one new thing before making breakfast for the kids. Before heading to school, have a quick discussion about your family values and set your intentions for the day.
Most of the time I work from my home office. It’s on the bottom floor of the house, so I can work while the kids are bouncing on the walls above. . .
At the end of this guide, I’ll give you the opportunity to see the rest of my vision. For now, start building your own.
action item:
Use this guide to create your own vision. We recommend that it take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Step 2: Document your personal philosophy
A personal philosophy is a set of beliefs, values, and principles that guide your actions.
The power of knowing your personal philosophy comes from knowing yourself. When you are clear about what is important to you and what you stand for, you are better equipped to navigate life.
This “knowing” gives you the strength and faith to deal with life no matter what happens. It’s important when you’re on track and things are going really well.
But when you face challenges and things don’t go well, your philosophy is the mechanism that keeps you on track and connected to who you know yourself to be.
My personal philosophy is “Live your legacy.”
why? Well, your heritage is the sum total of your life experiences, beliefs, values, and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. In short, it makes you more memorable.
I want to be remembered as a good father and husband. And in my professional life, I want to be remembered as someone who helped others experience success and fulfillment in their own way.
Here’s an example of how it helps me in my daily life.
This is what I think when I’m tempted to yell at my kids for any of the many reasons they give me every day.
“Is that how you want to be remembered? If not, live your legacy. Calm down and find a better way to deal with this. ”
Does it work 100% of the time? No, but at least I know how to get back on track when things go wrong. Again, this “knowing” gives you the strength and faith to deal with life no matter what happens.
action item: Follow the instructions in this exercise to develop your own personal philosophy. We recommend blocking it for about 30 minutes.

Step 3: Decide what actions to take to realize the vision you created
To realize the vision you have developed, one that is consistent with your personal philosophy, you will need to undergo professional and personal transformation.
The exercises of “doing,” “becoming,” “experiencing,” “learning,” and “sacrificing” can help you focus on what needs to change.
Here is an example based on my current transformation goals.
do:
- Calendar time blocks for content creation and learning
- Set aside time each day to connect with each child one-on-one.
Become:
- The world’s thought leader for high performance and personal satisfaction
- I am good at helping children with their homework.
experience:
- Get paid to write a book on resilience
- go on a month-long vacation with my family
learn:
- How to consistently get high-profile speaking engagements
- How to train children in sports and fitness
Sacrifice:
- Short-term revenue generation opportunities allow you to focus on long-term success and fulfillment
- want others to consistently follow logic and reason
I’ve found it helpful to do this exercise quarterly. This is a great opportunity to pause, reset, and course-correct if necessary.
action item: Use the prompts in the exercise above to create a plan for this intentional transformation.
